How to Order
If you want a particular breed, you will need to send in your order and wait your turn in line. I will continue to take orders only through my website. I have no intention of ever taking orders over the phone. Patience here is the key.
If you have questions you may contact me by e-mail at the following address:
I am not set up to process credit cards other than through the web store (which uses PayPal). I only accept checks and money orders through the mail. You may e-mail me for my mailing address if you wish to order by check or money order if you don't have Pay Pal. Your order is not booked until I receive it (together with payment) in my mailbox by regular mail and your check clears my bank (usually 7-10 business days).
Deposits are accepted when you're buying chicks, started or adult birds that do not require shipping. Please realize that your "word" is no longer enough to hold a bird for you for a few months, while I feed it & miss out on REAL sales opportunities. If you'd like live birds, please also realize I do not ship and you will have to drive to North/Central Washington to meet me to pick up your birds. On occasion, I do travel to Portland or other places around Washington & Oregon and can transport birds to a meeting point.
Starting in 2011, there will be a $10 charge for delivery for all sales outside of Okanogan/Omak.
Please also realize that I require a 50% down-payment which is NOT refundable for ANY reason, or ANY excuse.
I am NOT a hatchery and I ONLY hatch based on interest & commitments to buy. There is a $10 incubator charge for custom hatches. It is not fair to me or to the chickens/ducks/geese that I hatch if they have no one to pick them up once they are ready.
I hold all new chicks/ducks/geese for a minimum/maximum of 48 hours after hatching to ensure they are eating/drinking before they leave my farm. I want to make sure they have a good start and give them the best chance at thriving as they grow.
All chicks will be vaccinated against Marek's Disease before being put into the brooders.
After 48 hours, there will be a non-refundable, $10 brooder fee if I have to keep housing them for you. This helps offset the cost of chick starter, bedding, my time and my electricity bill from running heat lamps.
Please remember I am not a 24-hour fast food place where you can order and expect service immediately! I am doing this as a hobby and I work as fast and efficiently as the time allows. I do have a 40+ hour per week "real job." I cannot guarantee specific availability dates, as I cannot guarantee the laying rate of each of the many breeds that I have. I will get to each and every person that places an order - in the order the date that I receive that order through the web store.
If you are impatient and absolutely have to have something by a certain date, please do us both a favor and order from somewhere else! I realize the above statement seems cold and harsh, but I am simply not able to deal with creating eggs at the spur of the moment. We are at the mercy of the birds and the weather, so there isn't anything that we can do to change that!
My "office" e-mail is available 24 hours a day. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response, sometimes longer during shipping season (April through September).
I am not set up for drop in visits and cannot accommodate them. With the recent
Picking Up Hatching Eggs Or Birds
After reading the above statement about our Visitor Policy, please realize if you order young birds or adult birds from me & you live in the area we will have to meet somewhere to do the "exchange." I do require prepayment to "hold" a bird for you until you're able to pick it up & NO REFUNDS will be given for ANY reason if I am holding a bird for you and you change your mind. A 50% down-payment is required for me to hold a bird for you.
Eggs can be difficult to hatch without shipping. Some breeds (geese in particular) are even harder to hatch than others. Please understand that while I can guarantee eggs are fertile & fresh I cannot guarantee hatch rate due to handling during shipping, incubation techniques, etc. I am no longer issuing refunds or sending replacement eggs. If you're new to hatching, I'd suggest starting out on some less-expensive eggs first, until you've gained enough experience to tackle more expensive eggs.
Eggs are shipped out on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, only--unless you make a special request for them to be mailed on Thursday or Friday.
I do NOT ship live chicks or live birds.
Special requests are not always able to be accommodated and additional shipping & handling charges will apply.
I do NOT wash eggs before they are sent! This will destroy the protective coating the hen/duck/goose puts on the egg, allowing bacteria in! However, each egg is brushed off with a stiff bristle brush prior to being sat into a holding carton for shipment. I do strive for clean eggs by using clean nesting material, but they are chickens, ducks & geese and not always the cleanliest of animals. :)
Before being mailed, all eggs are individually wrapped and the date they were laid/collected is written in pencil on them, along with the breed type.
The eggs are then sent USPS Priority Mail (2-3 business days to most locations).
Shipping charges include the cost of bubble wrap, my time (it usually takes me 1 hour to collect eggs, clean them, mark them, wrap and box them and then of course, you have the actual shipping charges on top of that. Shipping charges sometimes vary greatly, so I have calculated an average cost, based on my materials, my time and weight of packages. This is easier for me and you. I do not make money from the shipping costs.
A Word About Shipped Eggs
I've personally shipped and received eggs through the mail since summer, 2003. In fact, my first hatched eggs came from Iowa (to Oregon) and were two Muscovy eggs. Both hatched & started my obsession with poultry.
