FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Hello, my name is Heather Spaet. My husband and I have a small hobby farm on 10 acres, located just outside of Okanogan, Washington, specializing in rare poultry.
I own & operate Rare Feathers Farm™.


We raise the following rare breeds & sell hatching eggs from these breeds:

  • Eggs are sold six at a time on most breeds
  • Other breeds are sold in increments of two or four because they may not be the best of layers or the demand is too high to sell them in larger lots
  • Please keep in mind I have breeding trios in most cases (one rooster to every two hens) so you may have to wait a day or two for eggs to be shipped
  • Eggs are collected seven days a week, twice per day to ensure the freshest possible
  • Each egg is brushed off with a stiff bristle brush prior to be sat into a holding carton for shipment
  • Eggs are NOT washed before being shipped
  • All eggs are individually bubble wrapped to be shipped
  • Eggs are collected every day and no eggs older than three days will be mailed out
  • Each egg is marked in pencil with the breed & the date laid/collected
